Reviews describe both timely access in some situations (same-day appointment for a cat in severe pain; referral onward for further checks and an overnight stay) and, in contrast, serious concerns from others about urgency and communication (post-surgery deterioration not being offered urgent assessment; an emergency line not being answered after being told to call back).

I am writing this with a broken heart after losing my beloved dog, Bubbles, following her surgery at PDSA New Cross. She had surgery on Monday 22nd and at first seemed to be recovering, but a few days later I became very worried because she didn’t look well. On Saturday, I called the clinic distressed and explained that something felt seriously wrong. Instead of being seen or offered urgent help, I was told to give her more paracetamol because she “might be in a little pain” and to wait until Monday. By Sunday, Bubbles had lost her sight completely. On Monday she was deteriorating rapidly — clearly unwell, distressed, and struggling — yet we were still not offered an emergency appointment. We were told to wait until Tuesday for a phone appointment, which never even happened. On Tuesday evening, Bubbles worsened further and we had to let her go because she was in so much distress. Losing her in this way has been devastating, and I truly feel that our concerns were not taken seriously and that she did not receive the urgent care and compassion she needed. I understand that charities and veterinary services can be busy and under pressure — but when an owner repeatedly phones in fear that their pet is declining, they should be listened to and assessed promptly. I will always wonder whether Bubbles might still be here if help had been offered sooner instead of being told to wait. Based on our experience, I sadly cannot recommend PDSA New Cross. The level of care, urgency, and communication we received in Bubbles’ final days was not what any animal or family deserves. I would strongly advise others to think very carefully before trusting this clinic with their pet’s care. Rest in peace, Bubbles 💔

Very friendly staff from reception desk to the nurses and vets. Efficiently run and always go above and beyond to ensure owners and pets are well taken care of. Thank you PDSA New Cross.

Do not bother calling the emergency line was waiting 45mins after a car accident as was told to call back after 6pm for the emergency line and no answer - had to register elsewhere - any pet/furbaby could die before you actually get any help unless you can drive there presumably. No way in hell will me or my family ever register with this pet hospital again if I could no star this place I would.

Recently took my cat here as he had lost some weight (we now know it’s hyperthyroidism) the reception staff and vet were lovely and we received his blood test results/medication all within the same week as the initial appointment! Pleased and grateful for the services the PDSA provide as I wouldn’t be able to afford private vet fees!

Took care of my baby girl in the last months of her life. Unfortunately had to euthanize her on our last visit as she had really gone down hill. The service they provide is invaluable to those on low incomes and/or unemployed. Thank You PDSA for the wonderful service you provide. I miss my Bella so much. 💔
