I wanted to leave a review to thank the vet and the member of staff who helped me at Burnt Ash Veterinary Clinic for their kindness and compassion during an extremely upsetting situation. On 8 September, I was driving home along Verdant Lane and approaching a red light when, about four cars ahead of me, a black cat suddenly ran into the road. A car travelling in the opposite direction hit him. Sadly, the cat did not survive. I immediately got out of my car and went over to him. I was so shocked that I simply picked him up, held him against my chest and carried him back to my car, which I had left in the middle of the road with the engine still running. Two other motorists then got out of their cars and came over to help. The driver who had hit the cat had driven away. We tried to find his owner by knocking on nearby doors, but unfortunately no one seemed to recognise him or know where he belonged. I have five cats of my own, so the whole experience affected me deeply. All I could think about were my own cats, and afterwards I could not wait to get home and cuddle them. I took the cat straight to Burnt Ash Veterinary Clinic so that he could be scanned for a microchip and, hopefully, his owner could be identified. Sadly, he was not microchipped and was also not neutered. The vet and the member of staff who assisted me were incredibly kind, calm and compassionate. They treated him with dignity and respect and were very understanding of how shaken I was by what had happened. The experience really brought home to me how important it is to have cats microchipped and neutered. In a situation like this, a microchip can make such a difference in helping a much-loved pet be identified and giving their family some answers. Thank you to the team at Burnt Ash Veterinary Clinic for the care and compassion you showed both the cat and me that evening. I will always be grateful for the way you handled such a heartbreaking situation.
