Dealing with fleas

Fleas are one of the commonest and most irritating problems associated with owning a pet. They are without doubt the largest cause of skin conditions in cats and dogs. In certain cases they can cause death. They often bite can cause irritation in humans in the same household.

The flea has a complex lifecycle that has many stages and can complete in anything from 2 weeks to 2 years depending on conditions.

It is important to note that although the adult flea can live for up to 4 months feeding about once a week, this stage of the life cycle is only really about 5% of the actual number present. With eggs representing 50% larvae 35% and pupae 10%.

It is important therefore to have a co ordinate flea control program.
